Stavanger recreation center consists of two departments. Gausel city farm and Dyrsnes nature barn. We are owned and operated by the Stavanger city council.

Gausel city farm is an open farm where visitors of all ages can come and experience and learn about Norwegian farm life, livestock, nature and environment. Gausel city farm and the surrounding recreation area are always open for visitors. All year around. There are park benches, barbeque areas, a playground, a lavvo and various livestock behind secure fences. There is no admission charge accept for the guided tour at 01 pm. Meet the guide in front of the barn. Groups that what to have an organized tour in weekdays with a guide has to book this in advance by calling the office.

Dyrsnes nature barn is a recreation center where visitors of all ages can come and experience and learn about the outdoors, cultural landscape, nature and environment. Dyrsnes is a wonderful recreation area by the lake Store Stokkavatn. We offer studies in nature, a photo display of endangered species in county Rogaland and canoe, boat and room rental. Groups that what to have an organized tour in weekdays with a guide has to book this in advance by calling the office.

We also offer:

  • Green care farming. A work training and rehabilitation of people in long-term sick leave.
  • An alternative school. An offer for pupils that are in need of an alternative arena for mastering.
  • Lost and found stray dogs. In cooperation with the police in Rogaland county and Falck
