Why be a part of the project?

There are many reasons why joining the Summer Hub program is good for business. Students in summer jobs are important for recruiting new knowledge and expertise to the Stavanger region

Updated : 4/8/2024

What's in it for your company?

Joint marketing: The company confirms its participation and gets its logo on the website of the Stavanger Business Region.

Commitment from the student: The company offers the program to its summer students. We want the students themselves to say yes, so that we know that both the company and the student will get something in return.

Discover the opportunities in this region: The company gets the opportunity to influence the activities of the students by inviting company visits or being responsible for one of the events. We run events on Tuesdays, Thursdays and some weekends throughout the period. There will be a good mix of company visits, physical activities and low-threshold social events.

Recruitment to the region: One of the low-hanging fruits we can reap when it comes to recruitment and attractiveness to the region is to show the students who are already visiting how unique and exciting business life we have, and all the great activities the region has to offer offer.

Variety in the companies: We have separate prices for start-ups, SMEs and larger companies to ensure breadth and variety among students.

What's in it for the summer workers?

This program will give the employees:

  • events throughout the summer (June 26 to August 4.)
  • an opportunity to meet and get to know employees from other companies
  • the opportunty to make contacts and build a network
  • fun and adventurous activities
  • a chance to experience the best parts of our region
  • a mix of start-ups, SME and larger companies

To ensure the variety of companies, we have different prices. There is a limited number of places per category.

NOK 3,000 per student

SMEs: NOK 2,000 per student
Start-ups: NOK 1,000 per student

Last year's review

Last year's pilot project gave an indicator of the added value the summer program provides.

- I think the activities we got to try were really fun and I enjoyed myself a lot. The project has also been a fantastic opportunity for me to meet other summer interns, and of course also the companies. I feel lucky to have been part of the project, says Xin Chou to RA.

- I think the summer job will give me valuable industry experience and act as a career starter. Stavanger is known for being Norway's energy hub, so the region is well equipped with knowledge and facilities, also for being one of the foremost in the energy sector globally, says Syed Nazim (25) to Rogaland's Avis.

- For us, it is important to offer the summer temps meaningful tasks, but also the opportunity to build networks and get to know everything the Stavanger region has to offer. The feedback on the project from our summer temporary workers is exclusively positive, so we hope the offer will be continued, says Nikolai Lyngø, managing director at Sval Energi.
