You will never get bored in this region. We have several renowned cultural arenas, and during the summer there is a range of festivals, including internationally renowned music festivals like Mablis and Utopia. You will see some well known artists on the stage.

  • The Mablis festival is known for having a diverse lineup, which features both established and up-and-coming artist from around the world. In addidtion to music, the festical also features food stands, art installations, and other activities. 

We also have sports events such as Blinkfestivalen, which is a festival that celebrates cross-coutry skiing, biathon, and roller skiing. It attracts many of the top athletes from norway and arbound the world. The festival features a varity of events, including races for all ages and skii levels, demonstrations and exhibitions. The events are known for their unique athmosphere, with spectators lining the course and cheering on the athletes. It is a must-see for sports enthusiasts visiting Stavanger. 

We have an internationally renowned food festival, Gladmat in Stavanger, and Smaksfest in Sola. Gladmat is Norways largest food-related festival, and an important meeting place for food and food culture, botch regionally and nationally. Parts of the downtown are being transformed into a large festival area, with about 150 stands, themed areas, a beer festival and resturants inviting guests to their own events. The city is packed with people, and the festival atmosphere is phenomenal. Venues often offer live music, DJs at outdoor bars, and in fargegata, there is a tradition to turn the street into a large dancefloor. Its free to enter the festival area, but som e events require registration beforehand. 

There are exiting events happening throughout the whole year in Stavanger.

Speaking of food. The region also offers world-class culinary experiences, based on short-distance ingredients. Here you will find several Michelin Stars restaurants, RE-NAA, and Sabi Omakase. In addition, restaurants such as TangoSöl, and K2 have received distinctíons from Michelin.

Surf in the morning, ski during the day, and kayak the fjords in the evening. When it comes to nature - we really do have it all. Stavanger is surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes.

Not only to mention the hiking. There are great hikes all around, we have even created 52 marked everyday hiking trails in the area. So you really won't have a problem finding the trails. We are also the home to Pulpit Rock where the nerve-racking cliff scene in Tom Cruises' film "Mission: Impossible - Fallout" takes place. 

We have white sandy beaches, and we're home to Norway's longest beach, Orre. We also have 63 different islands. And to top it off, we have the world's most northern palm island. No joke. Check out Flor & Fjære.

Getting around in Stavanger

It is easy to get around in Stavanger, and we have a network of routes covering the region. Even though the city is pretty walkable, the city offers public transportation such as busses and trains to get around. 

The busses are operated by kolumbus, and most routes determinate at the terminal, byterminalen, witch is located right in the center of the city. You can look at the routes on the kolumbus website, or easily download their app Sanntid, where you can also buy your tickets. Some of the busses are also going durlig the night, so you dont have to worry about catching the last bus. If you are going outside the buss routes, we also have trains and passenger ferries connected all the way to Egersund and to the city islands. 

We also have electric bikes that you can rent with a bus ticket in the app. The stations are placed all around the whole region, and the bikes are fast and easy to use.
