What is bulky waste?
Bulky waste includes large items like appliances, furniture, bicycles, and other waste that doesn't fit in your regular waste bins. Bulky waste can also include larger amounts of other types of waste. For more information, visit hentavfall.no (page is in Norwegian).
How to dispose of bulky waste
- Order free collection at hentavfall.no (page is in Norwegian).
- You are also welcome to deliver bulky waste yourself to one of IVAR's staffed recycling stations (page is in Norwegian).
- Usable items can be donated to a second-hand store, flea market, or IVAR’s reuse shop at Forus (page is in Norwegian).
Leaving bulky waste at unstaffed recycling points pollutes the area and your neighborhood. It's easier to order free collection.
What happens to bulky waste?
Appliances like refrigerators, washing machines, and stoves are sent to recycling facilities where hazardous parts are removed and various metals and plastics are recovered and used in new products.
Furniture that is still usable can be sold at IVAR’s reuse shop. If it's damaged, it goes to energy recovery, which provides district heating in the Stavanger region. Metals are sorted and sent for recycling.
Large metal items are sent for metal recycling.
