Deceased pets

Deceased pets should be taken to a veterinarian or pet crematorium. Small animals (e.g. canaries, hamsters, and mice) can be buried in your garden or wrapped in a food waste bag and placed in the brown bin.

Canoes, kayaks, and small boats

You can receive a 1000 NOK scrap payout when you deliver your recreational boat to an authorized disposal facility as scrap.

  • For more information about boat scrap payouts, visit the Norwegian Environment Agency (page is in Norwegian).
  • For disposal sites for small and large recreational boats, visit sortere.no (page is in Norwegian).

Still unsure where to dispose of your waste?

If you can't find information on where to sort or dispose of something, search on sortere.no and use common sense.

If you're still unsure, you have two options:

  • Deliver the waste as hazardous waste if you think it might be harmful to the environment.
  • Otherwise, place it in the black residual waste bin.
